Just Keep Swimming

Hello fellow bloggers! My name is Amy. I have recently been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Type 3. Constant pain,
mysterious injuries and illnesses have always been a part of my life and now I finally know why. It is a relief to know and now I want to share my story with those that want advice, help, support and anything pertaining to EDS. On the lighter side…I am a special education teacher in the making. Due to all my medical complications over the years, it has taken me a long time to get this far. From what teaching I have done, I know it is my passion. I love working with children and giving them that “ah-ha!” moment.
So follow my blog if you love someone with a sense of humor, sarcasm and a funny story for everything in life.

It’s strange…

Doctors tell you what to do, how to think, how to act…but then they turn around and tell you they really don’t know all that much about your syndrome. Multiple opinions with multiple perspectives and no one is really sure they are right…it makes my wee brain hurt. So does this mean I  take their advice or do what I know my body can do? I think I will do what I can do that I know is good for me. I know how I feel and how I react to certain things. Doctors aren’t in my shoes, not like they ever could fit their feet into my small shoes…oh the blisters. So to all those who are trying to decided what to do with doctors just remember you know yourself better than anyone else and if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything.

Brooklyn Kitten Can’t Contain His Jazz Hands
At just six months old, it’s hard to believe how much talent is packed into little Cricket, a kitten from Brooklyn, NY. At the mere suggestion of music, Cricket busts out dancing, throwing choreographed “jazz hands” in every direction.
While his technique could benefit from some coaching, the raw talent is apparent.

My best friend texted me, he asked if I looked nice right now. I told him no, and he said to get ready so I look good, not to him, but to myself. Only text him back If I felt happy with how I looked. This confused me but I didn’t ask questions. I just got ready, and finally after an hour or two, I told him I felt happy with how I looked, sort of. The door rang about 10 minutes later, and my friends told me to come with them to the park. This confused me but I didn’t ask questions, I was bored anyways. We walked to the park, it wasn’t that far, and they said to sit on the swing set. I didn’t really like the swings at this park because it was the very place my first love broke up with me & shattered my heart. Just sitting on the swing hurt a bit, I went into silence at the memories. Suddenly, I was blindfolded. When my friends took it off, there he was. The boy who told me to get ready, I liked this boy, he was my best friend. He handed me a rose and got down on his knee. “I know this is one of your least favorite places. I also know you stopped believing in love after 2 shots to the chest. And you don’t like change. But this is good change, I think. I want to change this swingset from the place where you closed your door to love to the place where it just began. I’ve sat by & watched you get hurt long enough. You’re beautiful, smart, talented, sweet, funny. And impatient. So, I won’t drag this out. I love you, & I’d like to be your boyfriend…Will you go out with me?” This boy was my 3rd love, he made me feel special. It’s been 5 long years, and just today, he said those exact words. To propose.
